John William Ferrell, born on July 16, 1967, in Irvine, California. Will
Ferrell is the eldest child of Righteous Brothers keyboardist Lee Ferrell (and
Kay Ferrell), however, he was not exactly the school clown while he was in
University High School. He was quiet and reserved however, he decided to be a
football player with a record at the school for the highest number of field
goals scored. In the more comfortable confines of his suburban home, Ferrell
displayed little of the hilarious, outrageous exclamations that would later
define his career. His mother, who was interviewed by Esquire she said that her
son was calm and amiable. "You're familiar with the Matchbox
automobiles?" Will would arrange his Matchbox cars completely by himself
and be content. The question would be "Do you wish to visit Disneyland
this morning?" or "You want your cars lined up?" and he'd have
to think about the idea. "That's not to say that Ferrell was a straight
guy. A glimpse of his comedic skills was visible every morning in high school,
when he would disguise his voice in order to announce his daily activities over
the PA system. After graduating in 1986, Ferrell went to the University of
Southern California at Los Angeles, where he was a member of Delta Tau, the
Delta Tau fraternity and pursued a degree in sports journalism.
