Alexandra Rose Raisman Bio

Alexandra Rose Raisman, born May 25 1994 she is an American retired gymnast who was an artistic. She was a two-time Olympian. She was the captain of both the 2012 "Fierce Five" and 2016 "Final Five" U.S. women's Olympic gymnastics teams, which were winners in their respective teams competitions.At the 2012 Olympics in London she was awarded gold medals in floor and team competitions, as well as the bronze medal on the balance beam, which made her the most accomplished American gymnast at the Games. In the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, she received a gold medal at the team competition which made her and teammate Gabby Douglas the only Americans who won back-to-back gold team medals. Raisman also won silver in the individual all-around and floor exercises. Raisman won silver medals for the individual all-around as well as the floor exercise. She also is the two-time national champion of floor exercise (2012,2015) as well as the 2012 national champion on the balance beam, and five-time medalist at the national championships all around (silver in 2016 and silver in 2012, 2011, 2012, and 2015. She was inducted into the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2013. Raisman was the daughter of Lynn Faber and was who was a former gymnast at high school and Rick Raisman, on May 25, 1994 in Needham. She is the mother of three siblings, Madison, Chloe and Brett. Raisman is Jewish and says that "I take a lot off being able to not just be a representative of the U.S.A but as well the Jewish community everywhere." "Raisman began gymnastics when she was eighteen months old. She attributes her early enthusiasm for gymnastics to the "Magnificent Seven", the gold medal-winning U.S. women's team at the 1996 Summer Olympics, whose performances she observed on VHS.She took classes at Exxcel Gymnastics and Climbing through Level 8, after which she transferred to Brestyan's American Gymnastics Club under coaches Mihai and Silvia Brestyan. Raisman completed her studies at Needham High School, 2012, after finishing her senior year via online courses and training to compete in the Olympics.
